Everyone at The View cried while surprising young cancer patient with favorite actress Sofia Carson

Everyone at The View — yes, including Whoopi Goldberg — cried during Thursday's broadcast as the show presented one of its most powerful segments in recent memory involving a young cancer patient meeting her favorite actress, Descendants star Sofia Carson.

Goldberg introduced the audience to 15-year-old Mya Lamarche, who spent 13 years of her life undergoing treatment for neurofibromatosis type 2, also known as NF2, which led to over 80 rounds of chemotherapy in an attempt to combat tumors growing in the teen's brain. After the show played a moving video package highlighting Mya's journey, Goldberg and Sara Haines welcomed Mya and her mother, Tanya Lamarche, to the set for an emotional interview that ended with a surprise.

"I love Sofia Carson because she teaches me every day to be happy. I watch her videos, her morning routines, and I find that, no matter what the day brings her, she's always happy," Mya said, before Goldberg announced that the show partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to bring Carson backstage, where she waited to meet Mya.

The actress then ran out and embraced Mya while Tanya cried on the couch, prompting Haines to sob in her chair as well.

"You made my wish come true," Carson said, later responding to Goldberg's question about the importance of meeting Mya. "I think there are few more important things in the world than the privilege of being able to make Mya smile, and to be able to be your wish is one of the greatest honors of my life. You are my hero, and everyone here's hero."

Goldberg wrapped up the segment with a message to the camera, which she had difficulty getting through as she fought back tears.

"Sofia, you are the queen we always knew you were. Thank you for making this come true for Mya today. For more information on the magic..." the 68-year-old said, her voice shaking as she paused to collect herself. "Of making wishes come true, head to wish.org/disney. We'll be right back."

Earlier in the episode, Mya spoke words of wisdom to everyone watching.

"It's hard in the sense that nobody knows what's going to happen next," she said. "But, I'm alive. I'm standing."
