SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, USA, November 22, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Intermountain Healthcare again is ranked as the top healthcare supply chain organization in the U.S. by Gartner, a national business consulting company. The annual Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25 from Gartner ranking recognizes manufacturers, providers, distributors, and retailers from across healthcare that demonstrate leadership in improving human life at sustainable costs. Intermountain was also ranked number one in 2016, and has ranked in the top ten for the past seven years.

Intermountain earned the top spot based on its strong bond rating, its supply chain organization’s support of the Intermountain mission, the health system’s emphasis on a “One Intermountain” approach, and its supplier collaboration initiatives, among other factors.

“The caregivers in our supply chain organization collaborate with clinicians and others across the Intermountain system to get the right tools to the right people at the right costs,” says Marc Harrison, MD, President and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare. “They help find significant savings while continuing to innovate and achieve high quality. During a time of so much uncertainty around federal healthcare policy and with such an intense focus on reducing costs and making care more accessible, it’s very gratifying that Intermountain Healthcare continues to be recognized for leading the way.”

John Wright, vice president of Supply Chain and Support Services for Intermountain, adds: “The Intermountain Supply Chain Organization continues to be humbled and appreciative of the recognition we receive from Gartner, Inc. Our #1 ranking in the Gartner Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25 is a result of the dedication and commitment of our supply chain caregivers and the support they receive from Intermountain leadership. We strive to be a model healthcare supply chain organization and our team is aligned to make this a goal every day.”

A new “People’s Choice” award. A new award bestowed by Gartner this year gives Intermountain an additional recognition for “Best Health System.” While the top 25 rankings are based on quantitative and qualitative measures, the new People’s Choice award is a statement of what health provider peers think. In this case, a large number of Intermountain’s peers cited it as a top company in their eyes.
