Pennsylvania leaders are touting their efforts to provide more affordable housing.

Gov. Josh Shapiro and other state leaders met in Harrisburg for a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday of a newly developed 41-unit affordable housing community in the city.

Shapiro says the project -- which received more than a million dollars in funding from the Commonwealth -- is an example of his administration's commitment to expanding access to housing and represents a more-than $16 million investment in safe, affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization.

"I think having a safe, affordable place to live, a safe affordable place to lay your head at night, that's critical to making everything else work in your life," said Shapiro.

Shapiro says investments like these will help provide stability to families across the state -- allowing children to focus on learning and adults to maintain a steady job.
