Tuesday is a WJCL Impact Day with high heat and humidity in the forecast. Parts of Southeast Georgia and all of the Lowcountry are included in a Heat Advisory. The advisory runs from 1-8pm and includes Savannah. The heat index or feel like temperature will peak around 105-108°. The actual temperature will jump to the mid to upper 90s across the area. Coastal locations will top out around 90°.A question that I get often is how hot does it have to feel for a Heat Advisory or Extreme Heat Warning to be issued for our area. Check out the map below. A Heat Advisory is issued in the Savannah area when the heat index is forecast to reach 108-112° for at least two hours. Tuesday's advisory is right on the edge of the criteria. An Extreme Heat Warning is issued when the heat index is forecast to reach 113° for at least two hours.Feels like temperatures or heat indices on Tuesday should reach 103-108° during the afternoon hours. Here is a snapshot from one forecast model at 3:30pm. Wednesday also looks hot with high temperatures in the mid-90s, but isolated thunderstorms may help to cool parts of our area by afternoon or early evening. Rain chances will remain fairly low through Friday. Saturday may bring more scattered thunderstorms to the area.So far the Atlantic hurricane season has been quiet. A lone area of low pressure roughly 650 miles east-northeast of Bermuda has a low 40% chance of tropical development. With increased wind shear and cooler water temperatures near this disturbance is looking less and less likely to become the first named storm of 2025. Whether it develops or not, this is no threat to land. For the latest weather information and the area's certified most accurate forecast watch WJCL 22 News or check the free WJCL 22 News App. You can get weather updates anytime on social media...follow me on X here and on Facebook here.Jeremy NelsonWJCL 22 Chief Meteorologist
