Federal budget cuts impact Mississippi Job Corps
Federal budget cuts are impacting an organization in Mississippi.
Some Job Corps locations have until June 30 to pause operations, according to the Mississippi Department of Labor.
The pause is to align with President Donald Trump's budget proposal. Data from the Labor Department shows the organization faced significant financial challenges under its current operational structure.
The Center Director for Mississippi Job Corps, Carl Wisch, said for now, they are working under normal operations.
"We do have a temporary restraining order that just went into effect last night, so we're back to normal operations, and we're really satisfied. We're very happy with that," Wisch said.
The next hearing is scheduled for June 17.
Job Corps is the largest free residential education and job training program for young adults ages 16-24.
