The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev’d Dr. Henry C. Ndukuba has on behalf of the Church congratulated His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV on his election as the 267th Pope and Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Primate in a letter personally signed and addressed to the new Pope, joined the global Christian community and the Roman Catholic Church in wishing the Pope a gracious tenure as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
Archbishop Ndukuba noted that the emergence of Cardinal Robert Prevost as Pope Leo XIV is a moment of great significance and joy, not only to the global Catholic community but also to many in Nigeria. He recalled with deep appreciation, the new Pope’s historic visit to Nigeria in 2016, which demonstrated his special love and concern for Nigerians.

“Your compassionate leadership and commitment to unity, peace, and spiritual renewal give us hope for the future of the Christian faith in our time”, he added.

“We pray that the Almighty God will grant you divine wisdom, strength, and grace to lead the Church in truth, humility, and righteousness. May your Papacy be marked by deeper ecumenical cooperation, a rekindling of faith among believers, and a prophetic voice for justice, peace, and compassion in our troubled world.”

Primate Ndukuba assured the Pope of prayers and goodwill for him as he assumes this sacred and weighty responsibility.
