Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed after hitting downed traffic light line

On Friday night, 53-year-old Jammy Weaver died after his motorcycle hit a utility line from a downed traffic light in Aiken County, officials said.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl M. Ables said the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. at Edgefield Road and Sweetwater Road.

According to authorities, the victim was thrown off his 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle after riding south on Edgefield Rd.

Authorities received a call at 10:44 p.m. Emergency responders said the man died at the scene around 11:10 p.m.

Officials have not released information about the victim, and their next of kin will be notified.

Officials said an autopsy will be performed next week in Newberry.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the incident.
